GTA 5 cheat phone numbers: dial cheats on the character’s phone

1. Take out the phone. D-pad up on console, up arrow on PC.
2. Open Contacts.
3. Open the keypad: □ on PlayStation, X on Xbox, Spacebar on PC (GTA Boom also lists the middle mouse button).
4. Dial the full number, including the 1-999 at the start.
5. Call.

The dashes in the tables are only there to make the numbers easier to read; dial just the digits.

No. A cheat number is not saved to your contacts, so you have to dial it again every time. One small thing helps: “*” on the phone keypad repeats the last cheat. That is handy when you need to drop a wanted star or extend invincibility several times in a row.

The numbers are easier to remember once you know how they are built: after 1-999 comes the English word of the PC code, spelled out on the phone keypad. For example, TURTLE gives 887-853, so full health is 1-999-887-853. The codes for the PC console are on the GTA 5 PC cheats page.

• PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC: the numbers work. On consoles the phone is an alternative to button combos, on PC to the ~ console.
• PS3 and Xbox 360: guides disagree. GTABase says only buttons work there, PC Gamer says the numbers work on any system. Buttons are the safer bet.

On consoles there are two versions of the Rapid GT button code, but the number 1-999-727-4348 is just one. More on the game’s cars and planes in the GTA 5 vehicles section.

Duke O’Death, the Kraken and the Dodo arrived in the PS4, Xbox One, PC and newer versions. For Director Mode there is also the “Acting Up” contact in the phone.

Director Mode is a separate mode in GTA 5 Story Mode: you pick an actor, such as a story character, a pedestrian or an animal, and play as them. In the settings you can switch on weather, time of day, wanted level, invincibility and other effects without any cheats.

There are two ways in by phone: dial 1-999-5782-5368 or call the “Acting Up” contact. The conditions are the same as for the other routes: you are not in a vehicle, have no wanted stars and are not on a mission. If you have stars, dial 1-999-5299-3787 first to drop them.

GTA Online has no Director Mode.

A call works just like a button code. According to Rockstar Support, with a cheat on you can save, but achievements are temporarily disabled. According to the guides, until the end of the session: after restarting the game or loading a save, they are available again. In a mission with an active cheat the best you can get is a bronze medal.

1. The 1-999 is missing. Without it the number is not a cheat.
2. A missing digit. Some popular guides print the numbers for slippery cars and the garbage truck with a typo. Check against the table: 1-999-7669-329 and 1-999-8727-433.
3. You are in GTA Online. The numbers work only in Story Mode.
4. “Cheat Denied”. Cheats are blocked in this mission or area.
5. The vehicle is not unlocked. Duke O’Death, the Kraken and the Dodo will only show up after the matching event or task.
6. Director Mode will not open. Get out of the vehicle, lose the wanted level and finish the mission.
7. PS3 or Xbox 360. Phone cheats may not work there; use buttons.
8. Not enough room. Vehicles won’t spawn indoors, underground or in a cramped spot. Move to open ground and call again.

Besides cheats, the phone can dial numbers from the game’s ads and signs. They don’t trigger any cheat. The numbers below match on gta.wiki and GTA Fandom.

The wikis also list Los Santos Talent at 1-999-578-25368. Those are the same digits as the Director Mode cheat 1-999-5782-5368, just with the dashes in different places.

All codes for every platform in one table are on the GTA 5 cheats page. By platform:

• GTA 5 cheats for PlayStation (PS4, PS5)
• GTA 5 cheats for Xbox (One, Series)
• GTA 5 cheats for PC (~ console)

How the console and PC versions of the game differ is covered on the GTA 5 platforms page.
