How much GTA 5 costs in the US
The GTA 5 price depends on the store: the cheapest option is Steam at $29.99, while PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store charge $39.99. We checked the storefronts on October 31, 2026.

Once the sale ends, the regular prices in the second column apply again. If you plan to buy on PC, Epic's deal ends first, on November 2, and Steam's runs until November 5. Epic shows prices only for the visitor's own country, so we could not record a US figure there.
What exactly you are buying: editions and bundles
GTA 5 currently has no separate "Gold" or "Premium" editions. The base purchase in every store is Story Mode together with GTA Online. The only difference is which versions of the game you get.
- PC (Steam, Epic). Buying GTA V Enhanced also gets you the old Legacy version. Legacy is no longer sold separately on Steam. Enhanced is for modern PCs with an SSD, Legacy for weaker machines. More on the GTA 5 system requirements page.
- PlayStation. The "GTA V (PS4 & PS5)" product lets you download both digital versions.
- Xbox. The "Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S" bundle also contains both versions. On Xbox Series X|S it is GTA Online plus the Story Mode add-on, which sells on its own for $19.99 (currently $10.00).
Bundle with the Great White Shark Card. This is GTA V plus GTA$1,500,000 for GTA Online. On PlayStation Store (PS5 only) and on Xbox Series X|S it costs $49.99; on Xbox it is currently $24.99. The money is credited only in Online and does not affect Story Mode.
GTA Online on its own. On PS5 and Xbox Series the online mode is sold as a standalone game for $19.99 (currently $9.99). You can add Story Mode later from inside the game. If you only care about Online, see our GTA Online section.

On the Xbox Store, some subscribers get 20% off until November 19, 2026; Microsoft does not say on the page which subscription it is. We could not check Epic prices across countries: the store shows the price only for the visitor's location.
GTA 5 in subscriptions: PS Plus, Game Pass, GTA+
- PS Plus Extra and Premium. GTA 5 is in the catalog right now, but it leaves on November 17, 2026. This is confirmed on the PlayStation Store page and in Sony's November list. After that date you will need to buy it to play.
- Xbox Game Pass. The game is not there: both versions left the catalog on April 15, 2026. There is no news about a return.
- GTA+. This is Rockstar's subscription for GTA Online with in-game bonuses; it costs $7.99 a month on PlayStation Store and Steam. On PS5, GTA+ members get access to GTA Online. GTA+ does not unlock Story Mode.
- Online on consoles. To play GTA Online on PlayStation you need PS Plus; on Xbox, Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. On PC no extra subscription is required.
Where to buy GTA 5 legally and what to avoid
The safest choice is an official store: Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store on Xbox. The game is tied to your account right away, and on PC also to your Rockstar Games account, without which GTA 5 will not launch.
Keys from third-party sites. "GTA 5 key" searches are popular, but a cheap key from a marketplace is a risk: it may be region-locked and fail to activate in your country, or turn out to be resold. When buying a key, check which store (Steam, Epic, Rockstar) and which region it is for.
Discs. Boxed versions for PS4, PS5 and Xbox turn up at electronics stores and on the used market. We do not track disc prices. The main thing is to make sure the edition fits your console.
There is currently no free way to get GTA 5 legally, apart from the PS Plus catalog until November 17. Sites promising "GTA 5 free download" offer pirated copies or malware.
How much GTA 5 cost to make
Rockstar and Take-Two never officially disclosed the game's budget. At launch, analysts estimated development and marketing together at more than $265 million (about £170 million), which made GTA 5 one of the most expensive games of its time. It paid off fast: retail sales passed $800 million in the first day, and more than 230 million copies have been sold in total (Take-Two report of August 7, 2026).
