How to get 100% in GTA 5: what counts, what doesn't and in what order

Оновлено: 31.10.2026 Автор: Alex Rayne
A speedboat passes a lighthouse on a rock, top-down view, GTA 5

GTA 5 100% completion: 69 story missions, Franklin's 20 Strangers and Freaks missions, 42 hobbies, 14 random events and 16 miscellaneous tasks such as spaceship parts, letter scraps and stunt jumps. What you can skip, the rewards and the order.

Коротко
  • To get 100% in GTA 5 you need to clear five sections of the checklist: 69 story missions, Franklin's 20 Strangers and Freaks missions, 42 hobbies and pastimes, 14 random events and 16 miscellaneous tasks.
  • You have to collect all 50 spaceship parts and all 50 letter scraps, but only half of the stunt jumps and bridges.
  • The Epsilon line, the nuclear waste and Michael's and Trevor's Strangers and Freaks are not needed for 100%.
  • Nothing required can be missed for good: after the credits, everything is still available in free roam.
  • The reward is the Career Criminal achievement, a "100%" T-shirt for Franklin, UFOs in the sky and the bonus mission "The Last One".

What you need for 100% in GTA 5

Getting 100% in GTA 5 does not mean "doing everything". According to PowerPyx, you actually need about two thirds of the game's content: only Franklin's Strangers and Freaks, any 14 random events, half of some collectibles and bronze in the hobbies. You can track progress in the pause menu under Stats → 100% Checklist, with more detail on your Rockstar Social Club profile.

SectionHow many you needCatch
Story missionsall 69including Lester's 5 assassinations; any ending counts
Strangers and Freaks20 specific Franklin missionsMichael's and Trevor's do not count
Hobbies and pastimes42 specific itemsbronze is usually enough
Random eventsany 14there are 57–60 in total, depending on the guide
Miscellaneous16 taskscollectibles, purchases, friends, Chop

Guides weight the sections differently: GTABase puts the story at 55%, PowerPyx at 50%. So go by the in-game checklist itself, not by the percentage for any single item.

Story and Strangers and Freaks

69 story missions, from "Prologue" to one of the three endings. Your heist approach does not matter: any option counts. Lester's assassinations are best done after the finale, when you have more money to play the stock market. The full list is on the GTA 5 missions page.

Strangers and Freaks. Only Franklin's 20 missions are required:

CharacterMissions
Tonya (tow truck)5 "Pulling Favors" missions
Beverly (paparazzi)5 "Paparazzo" missions
Hao1, "Shift Work" (unlocks street races)
BarryFranklin's 2 "Grass Roots" missions
Mary-Ann1, "Exercising Demons" as Franklin
Dom4 extreme "Risk" missions
Omega1, "The Final Frontier", after all 50 spaceship parts
Dreyfuss1, "A Starlet in Vinewood", after all 50 letter scraps

GTABase points out that Franklin's line formally has 24 tasks, but the checklist does not show four of them separately. You still have to complete them.

42 hobbies and pastimes

It is not any 42, it is specific ones. According to PowerPyx, they include:

  • a private dance at the strip club;
  • the Ammu-Nation shooting range: 18 challenges (6 weapon types, 3 each), at least bronze;
  • 5 street races (Franklin only, from 20:00 to 05:00, after "Shift Work");
  • 6 off-road races and 4 sea races;
  • 3 triathlons;
  • 12 flight school lessons;
  • 13 parachute jumps (from mountains and from a helicopter);
  • winning a match of tennis and of darts;
  • golf: 9 holes at par or under.

Items unlocked by the story show up on the map on their own. Yoga, gun running, bail bond jobs and some other activities are not needed for 100%.

Random events and 16 miscellaneous tasks

Random events are the blue or red dots on the minimap while you drive around. Any 14 count, and you can do them as any character.

Miscellaneous (16 items):

TaskHow to do it
50 spaceship partsFrom Beyond the Stars achievement; anyone can collect them, Franklin hands them in
50 letter scrapsA Mystery, Solved achievement; unlocks the Dreyfuss mission
25 of 50 stunt jumpsthe Show Off achievement needs all 50
25 of 50 under-the-bridge flightsClose Shave needs all 50
8 of 15 knife flightsClose Shave needs all 15
Buy 5 businessesany that generate income; garages, hangars, helipads and the strip club do not count
Buy a car from a websiteany dealership on the in-game internet
Walk Chop and play with himnear Franklin's house
Booty Callwith a club dancer or after an event
Hire a prostitutean item on the game's checklist
Rob a storeonly 24/7, LTD, Rob's Liquor and similar; Ammu-Nation, barbershops and tattoo parlors do not count
Go to the moviesalone; you do not have to watch the film to the end
With a friend: movies, bar, strip club, dartsfour separate items; inviting Lamar as Franklin is convenient

What you do NOT need for 100%

  • the Epsilon cult line and Michael's and Trevor's other Strangers and Freaks (Epsilon is only needed for the Kifflom! achievement);
  • the 30 barrels of nuclear waste and the 30 submarine parts;
  • the second half of the stunt jumps, bridges and knife flights;
  • all 57–60 random events: 14 is enough;
  • gold medals in missions: for 100% you only have to complete them;
  • stock market money, clothes, tattoos, car mods, the cable car, fairground rides.

Some of these are needed for trophies: see GTA 5 achievements.

Completion order and tips

  1. Story, with collectibles along the way. You can collect spaceship parts from the start, and letter scraps too. Unlock Franklin's Strangers and Freaks as they appear.
  2. Save before the finale. Any ending works for 100%, but option C keeps every lead alive and keeps all activities available.
  3. Money after the story. Do Lester's assassinations, play the stock market, buy businesses.
  4. Hobbies in batches. Flight school gives you the skills for bridges and knife flights straight away; a helicopter and a jet from Fort Zancudo work well for those.
  5. Random events in the background. You will pick up 14 of them while driving around.

Cheats do not block 100%: Rockstar only disables achievements temporarily, and they do not affect the completion percentage. The codes are on the GTA 5 cheats page.

What 100% in GTA 5 gets you

  • the Career Criminal achievement/trophy;
  • UFOs over Mount Chiliad (at night, in the rain), over Fort Zancudo and over Sandy Shores;
  • an orange "100%" T-shirt in Franklin's wardrobe;
  • the bonus Strangers and Freaks mission "The Last One".

According to GTABase, in the Enhanced version a golden peyote appears in the Chiliad mountains after "The Last One" and turns your character into Sasquatch. The game does not give you any weapons or cars for 100%.
