Can you play RDR2 on a phone? There is no official Red Dead Redemption 2 for Android or iPhone, and every "RDR2 APK" is a fake. What Rockstar has released on mobile, what Red Dead Redemption costs and how to play RDR2 from your phone with Remote Play.
Is there an RDR2 mobile version
Officially, RDR2 on mobile does not exist. Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (and, from 2019 to 2023, for Google Stadia, which has since shut down). On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S the game runs through backward compatibility. There is no Android or iOS version and no announcement of one.
We checked the stores on November 2, 2026: among Rockstar Games and Netflix apps on the App Store there is only the first Red Dead Redemption, and the same goes for Google Play. Red Dead Redemption 2 is not there, and it is not in the Netflix Games catalog. The full platform table is on our RDR2 on PS5, Xbox and PC page.
Which Red Dead game is actually on mobile
As Rockstar announced on Newswire, on December 2, 2025 Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare came to iOS and Android for the first time. It is the complete 2010 single-player game with Game of the Year Edition bonus content, mobile-friendly controls and a performance mode for select devices. There is no multiplayer in the mobile version.
There are two ways to get it:
- Netflix. Netflix members download a separate "Red Dead Redemption NETFLIX" app at no extra cost.
- Standalone purchase. The Rockstar Games app costs $39.99 on both the US App Store and Google Play (November 2, 2026).
According to the App Store, the game takes about 3 GB and needs iOS 18 or later. More about the first game, its story and console versions is on our Red Dead Redemption page.
How to play RDR2 on your phone legally
The only option that works is streaming from a device you own: the game runs on your console or PC, and your phone shows the picture and sends your inputs. We checked cloud services separately, as of November 2, 2026.
| Method | What you need | Status for RDR2 |
|---|---|---|
| PS Remote Play | PS5 or PS4 with RDR2, Sony's PS Remote Play app on your phone | streams the game installed on your console; a controller and stable Wi-Fi help |
| Xbox Remote Play | Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One with RDR2, the Xbox app on your phone | streams from your console if remote features are turned on |
| Steam Link | a PC with RDR2 on Steam, Valve's Steam Link app | streams from your own PC on your home network |
| PS Plus Extra / Premium | subscription | RDR2 is in the catalog until 11/17/2026; it runs on the console, and on a phone only via Remote Play |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Game Pass | no: RDR2 is not in Game Pass |
| GeForce NOW | an NVIDIA account | not on NVIDIA's public games list |
Sony offers PS Plus Premium cloud streaming on PS5, PS Portal and PC; we found no confirmation for phones. NVIDIA's public GeForce NOW list has no Rockstar games at all. RDR2 was on Xbox Game Pass only from May to September 2020. You can buy the game for console or PC in official stores; see prices on our RDR2 price page.
What an "RDR2 APK" is and why it is dangerous
Files called "RDR2 APK", "Red Dead Redemption 2 Mobile", "RDR2 OBB" or "full Android version" have nothing to do with Rockstar. The real RDR2 on PC needs 150 GB of free space and a GTX 770-class graphics card (according to Steam), so a "full game in 2 GB for your phone" is false by definition. What these files usually contain:
- a completely different game or an amateur fake with a Red Dead splash screen;
- an "installer" that asks you to complete a survey or enter your phone number or card details;
- malware that shows ads, signs you up for paid services or steals passwords.
Even Google Play has apps with "RDR2" in the name: guides and fan apps from third-party developers. Check the developer: official games are published by Rockstar Games or Netflix. If you have already installed a suspicious file, delete it, scan your phone, change your passwords from another device and watch your card statements.
Will RDR2 come to mobile
Officially, nothing is known. Rockstar has not announced a mobile version, nor native versions for PS5, Xbox Series or Nintendo Switch 2. Unofficially, insiders talked in 2026 about an updated version for new consoles and Switch 2, without confirmation, and phones were not part of those rumors.
There is a precedent: Rockstar brought the first Red Dead Redemption to phones 15 years after launch. If RDR2 is ever announced for iOS or Android, Rockstar Newswire will cover it and the game will appear on the App Store and Google Play under Rockstar Games, and we will update this page. For other Rockstar games on phones, see GTA 5 mobile and GTA San Andreas mobile.
