Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for PC: at launch the game is only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here is what Take-Two has actually said, how long Rockstar's previous games took to reach PC and how to avoid fake "PC versions".
What is officially known about GTA 6 on PC
Nothing, except that it will not be there at launch. Rockstar's official support page on editions and platforms lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no announcement of a Windows version, no PC release date and no PC system requirements.
Stories like "Take-Two issues new official statement on GTA 6 PC" usually repeat general remarks by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick: Rockstar starts with consoles, and PC is becoming more and more important for the company. That is neither an announcement nor a date.
How long Rockstar games took to reach PC
| Game | Consoles | PC | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA 4 | April 2008 | December 2008 | ~8 months |
| GTA 5 | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~1.5 years |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~1 year |
Rockstar traditionally releases the PC version later: consoles first, then extra work for a wide range of hardware. If the studio follows its usual pattern, GTA 6 on PC is unlikely to arrive sooner than a year after the console release. That is our estimate based on the studio's history, not a Rockstar forecast.
Beware of "GTA 6 for PC"
Since the game does not exist on PC, every site and video offering a "GTA 6 PC download", "early access" or "beta" is fake. Security researchers have found password- and wallet-stealing malware under these names. Do not run such files.
If you want to play on launch day, you need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S. Prices and editions are on the GTA 6 price page.
