Every cheat in the first Red Dead Redemption: 21 phrases to type in and 18 cheats available right away, including invincibility, ammo, $500, weapons and outfits. How to enter them on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox and PC and what happens to achievements.
How to enter a cheat in Red Dead Redemption
- Pause the game and open Options.
- Choose Cheats, which lists the cheats you've already unlocked.
- To add a new one, press Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, X on Nintendo Switch or F on PC to bring up the keyboard.
- Type the phrase exactly, punctuation included. Capitalization doesn't matter.
- An entered cheat stays in the list for good: from then on you just toggle it on and off.
Saves and achievements. As soon as you activate any cheat, the game stops awarding achievements and trophies and turns off autosave. Switching the cheat off doesn't undo this: you need to load a save made before the cheat. So save at a camp or settlement first, then experiment.

The table was compiled from guides by GamesRadar (updated April 15, 2026), Sportskeeda, GGRecon and Germany's GIGA, and the phrases match word for word. The misspelled "imnfinity" is how the phrase is written in the game; the correct spelling "infinity" won't work.
Cheats available right away
Another 18 cheats need no phrase: they're already in the Cheats menu. They used to be bonuses for linking a Rockstar Social Club account; now, according to GamesRadar and Sportskeeda, they're available to all players.

Set contents follow GamesRadar and Sportskeeda; GIGA doesn't mention throwing knives in Gun Set 4. GamesRadar describes Hitchcock as a cheat with no visible effect, while Sportskeeda and GIGA describe it as "more birds".
Cheats on different platforms
Red Dead Redemption came out in 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360. On August 17, 2023, Rockstar released a port for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, on October 29, 2024, a PC version, and on December 2, 2025, versions for PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 with a free upgrade for owners of earlier versions.
- PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One / Series (the original through backward compatibility): same menu and phrases.
- PS4 and Switch (the 2023 port): the same list; on Switch the keyboard opens with the X button.
- PC (2024): the same list; the input field opens with the F key or via the on-screen prompt.
- PS5 and Switch 2: guides don't cover them separately, but it's the same game, so the same list is expected to work.
Cheats only work in single-player; according to GIGA, most of them also work in the Undead Nightmare expansion. The ports have no multiplayer mode.
What the cheats don't include
- Infinite money. There's only $500 at a time, though you can enter the phrase repeatedly.
- An official list from Rockstar. The tables were compiled from guides by several independent outlets.
- Data on the mobile version. Guides don't cover the Android and iOS version on Netflix separately.
Cheats for the next game are on the RDR2 cheats page, with 37 phrases and its own newspaper system. Other Rockstar games: GTA 5 cheats, GTA San Andreas cheats, GTA Vice City cheats. Everything about the game itself, including versions, prices and platforms, is on the Red Dead Redemption page, and the sequel is covered on Red Dead Redemption 2.

Yes: "The root of all evil, we thank you!" gives $500. There's no infinite money, but you can enter the phrase again and again.

Yes. The PS4 port (2023) uses the same phrases and menu, and the PS5 version is the same game.
