What a "GTA 6 APK" is and why it is dangerous
Files circulating as "GTA 6 APK", "GTA 6 Mobile", "early access" or "beta" have nothing to do with Rockstar. Cybersecurity companies, including Malwarebytes and McAfee, have described schemes like these:
- the installer shows a GTA splash screen but installs malware;
- the program steals passwords, browser cookies and crypto wallet data (the Vidar infostealer has been seen, for example);
- "to activate" you are asked to fill in a survey or enter your phone number or card details.
The rule is simple: if GTA 6 is offered for download anywhere other than PlayStation Store or Xbox Store, it is a scam.
Which GTA games you can legally play on a phone
Rockstar has released classic entries in the series on mobile. For example, GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas (originals and Definitive Editions), Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars are sold on the App Store and Google Play. The trilogy has left Netflix Games: GTA III and Vice City in December 2024, San Andreas on December 12, 2025. GTA 5 and GTA 6 are not officially on phones.
