GTA San Andreas weapons: how the 13 slots work and what Ammu-Nation charges

Оновлено: 31.10.2026 Автор: Alex Rayne
Sweet fires from a car window in GTA San Andreas – The Definitive Edition

Every GTA San Andreas weapon by slot, from brass knuckles and the katana to the minigun. Ammu-Nation prices, the missions that unlock each gun in the store, dual wielding, weapon skills and weapon cheats.

Коротко
  • GTA San Andreas weapons are split into 13 slots: each slot holds one gun, and picking up a new one replaces the old one.
  • Ammu-Nation stores open after the mission Doberman; there are 11 of them across the state.
  • The cheapest gun at Ammu-Nation is the 9mm at $200, the most expensive is the Sniper Rifle at $5,000; in Las Venturas everything costs 20% more.
  • The minigun, flamethrower and rocket launchers are not sold in stores: you find them in the game world or spawn them with a cheat.
  • At Hitman skill level CJ can dual wield the 9mm, Sawnoff Shotgun, Tec-9 and Micro SMG.

How weapons work in San Andreas

GTA San Andreas weapons are organized by slot. Each slot is a weapon type, and it can only hold one gun: pick up a Desert Eagle and your 9mm disappears, because both sit in the pistol slot. That makes every loadout in San Andreas a trade-off, unlike GTA 5, where you carry everything at once.

The second thing to know is weapon skills. The more CJ fires a given weapon type, the higher his level climbs: Poor, Gangster and Hitman. Higher levels improve accuracy and lock-on range, and with light weapons at Hitman level CJ fires two guns at once. You can dual wield the 9mm, Sawnoff Shotgun, Tec-9 and Micro SMG. Some Ammu-Nation stores have a shooting range with challenges.

Names are in English, as in the game. We checked the slot list against two encyclopedias: GTA Wiki on Fandom and Grand Theft Wiki.

Ammu-Nation prices

Ammu-Nation in San Andreas opens after the mission Doberman. There are 11 stores across the state: in Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and the small towns. The stock is the same everywhere, but prices in Las Venturas are 20% higher. Some weapons only appear on the shelves after certain story missions.

"Later in the story" marks guns where sources name different missions; the price is the same either way. The store does not sell heavy weapons, the knife, the bat, brass knuckles or the katana: you find those in the game world, get them in missions or spawn them with a cheat.

Getting weapons without spending money

You don't have to buy everything. Weapon pickups are scattered all over the state: pistols, shotguns, melee weapons and, later on, heavy hardware like the minigun, rocket launchers and the flamethrower. CJ also gets some guns handed to him during story missions. The other route is weapon set cheats:

  • LXGIWYL (THUGSARMOURY in the Definitive Edition): weapon set 1;
  • KJKSZPJ (PROFESSIONALSKIT): weapon set 2;
  • UZUMYMW (NUTTERSTOYS): weapon set 3, with heavy weapons.

In the Definitive Edition, cheats disable achievements. The full table with PlayStation and Xbox button combos is on the GTA San Andreas cheats page, and the list of story jobs is in GTA San Andreas missions.

San Andreas in the Definitive Edition

GTA San Andreas – The Definitive Edition is part of the GTA Trilogy collection. The PC weapon cheat phrases there differ from the original; they are listed in brackets above. Where to buy the remaster legally and what it costs is on the GTA Trilogy price page; for the game itself, see the GTA San Andreas section.

GTA San Andreas weapons FAQ

When does Ammu-Nation open in San Andreas?

After the mission Doberman. Until then the stores are closed.

How do you dual wield in San Andreas?

Level the weapon skill up to Hitman. CJ can fire two at once with the 9mm, Sawnoff Shotgun, Tec-9 and Micro SMG.

Where can I buy a minigun in GTA San Andreas?

Nowhere: Ammu-Nation does not sell heavy weapons. You find the minigun in the game world or spawn it with the cheat UZUMYMW (NUTTERSTOYS in the Definitive Edition).

Why does my weapon disappear when I pick up a new one?

Because each slot can hold only one gun. A new weapon of the same type replaces the old one.

Where are weapons cheapest?

Anywhere except Las Venturas: Ammu-Nation prices there are 20% higher.
