GTA 5 on mobile does not exist, and every APK is a fake

Officially, GTA 5 on mobile does not exist. Rockstar Games has only released the game for PlayStation, Xbox and PC; the Rockstar website currently lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. No Android or iOS version has ever been announced, not before GTA 6 and not after.

What is more, Rockstar's Mod Guidelines (updated on September 10, 2026) specifically ban porting its games to platforms where the company did not release them. So any "GTA 5 mobile" is either a fake or an unofficial port that breaks the rules and has no support at all.

There is no date because there is no announcement. Searches for a "GTA 5 mobile release date" are fed by videos and sites promising a "release next month": it is a way to farm views or get you to download a file. If Rockstar ever announces a mobile version, it will appear on Rockstar Newswire and on official App Store and Google Play pages, and we will update this page right away.

Files unrelated to Rockstar are spread under names like "GTA 5 APK", "GTA 5 Mobile", "GTA V OBB" or "latest version". Gaming outlets (GTABoom, Sportskeeda) have warned about these schemes for years. Here is what is usually inside:

• a completely different game or an amateur knock-off with a GTA splash screen;
• an "installer" that asks you to complete a survey or enter a phone number or card details for "activation";
• malware that shows ads, signs you up for paid services or steals passwords.

If you have already installed such a file: delete it, scan your phone with antivirus, change your email, banking and social media passwords from another device and keep an eye on your card transactions.

The only official way is streaming from your own console. The game runs on the console, and the phone shows the picture and sends your inputs.

Rockstar has not officially announced cloud streaming of GTA 5 to phones through third-party services, so we do not recommend them. And GTA 5 has not been on Xbox Game Pass (and therefore Xbox Cloud Gaming) since April 15, 2026. You can buy the game for console or PC in official stores; prices are on the GTA 5 price page.

Rockstar has released classic entries on mobile, and they are sold on the App Store and Google Play:

• GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas: the original 2011–2013 mobile ports. In the US they cost $4.99, $4.99 and $6.99 on both the App Store and Google Play.
• Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition: updated versions of the three games, on mobile since December 2023. They have already been removed from Netflix Games: GTA III and Vice City in December 2024, San Andreas on December 12, 2025.
• Red Dead Redemption: available on iOS and Android to Netflix subscribers since December 2, 2025.
• Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars: handheld entries that Rockstar also released on mobile.

Cheats for the classic GTAs are on the San Andreas cheats and Vice City cheats pages.

Rockstar has not announced GTA 5 for Switch or Switch 2 either: there are only rumors and the stated wish of the studio Virtuos to port the game if Take-Two agrees. GTA 6 will not be on phones either: it is coming only to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Details are on the GTA 6 mobile page.
