How many achievements and trophies GTA 5 has
GTA 5 has 77 achievements on Xbox and PC and 78 trophies on PlayStation, because there is also a platinum. The numbers match on GTABase and in the game's official Steam list (77 entries for both Legacy and Enhanced). The list grew along with the game:

The base 50 are worth 1,000 Gamerscore, the extra 27 another 750. The Los Santos Legend platinum ("Congratulations! You're Vinewood's biggest star!") unlocks once you have all the base trophies; the update trophies are not needed for it. Online play has been shut down on PS3 and Xbox 360, so the platinum can no longer be earned there.
Story achievements (unlock automatically)
These achievements are hidden, but you cannot miss them: each one is awarded for a specific story mission. The full mission list is on the GTA 5 missions page.

Important: 100% completion only needs 25 stunt jumps, 25 bridges and 8 knife flights, while the Show Off and Close Shave achievements need all of them. The nuclear waste is not needed for 100% at all, only for Waste Management.

| Pimp My Sidearm | Fully modify any weapon at Ammu-Nation (a pistol, for example, costs about $3,400). |
| Wanted: Alive or Alive | Deliver a fugitive alive on one of Trevor's bail bond jobs. There are four targets; if you kill them all, the achievement is lost. Missable. |
| Los Santos Customs | Fully upgrade a car at Los Santos Customs (the shop opens after the mission "Father/Son"). |
| A New Perspective | Play 15 hours in first-person mode. Only on PS4, Xbox One, PC and newer versions. |
Missable achievements. PowerPyx lists six: TP Industries Arms Race, Red Mist, Kifflom!, Altruist Acolyte, Wanted: Alive or Alive and Three Man Army. If Franklin picks option A or B in the final mission, some of them become unavailable. Option C ("The Third Way") keeps all the leads alive, and after the credits you can finish everything in free roam. The safest move is a separate manual save before the last mission.
GTA Online achievements in the base list
The 17 trophies marked "GTA Online" are part of the base list and are required for the platinum. All except the rank ones are realistic by rank 20. Some are easier to boost with a friend in a private session: Backseat Driver needs four players, Full Refund needs a rank 50 player to send a mugger after you. On consoles, online play requires a paid online subscription.

These 27 achievements came with free updates. They do not affect the platinum, but they count toward your total Gamerscore and completion percentage on Xbox and Steam.

Cheats and achievements
Rockstar Support says the game still saves with cheats on, but achievements are temporarily disabled. According to guides, this lasts until the end of the current session: after restarting the game or loading a save, achievements are available again. It is safer to enter codes on a separate save slot. All the codes are on the GTA 5 cheats page.
The order to get the platinum without extra replays
- Story. Play all 69 missions at your own pace, but before the finale clear the missable achievements and make a manual save. In the finale, pick option C.
- Collectibles. 50 spaceship parts, 50 letter scraps, 50 stunt jumps, 50 bridges, 15 knife flights, 30 waste barrels: that is also most of your 100%.
- Gold medals. Any 70 of 115; the short Strangers and Freaks missions are usually easier. Mission replay is in the pause menu.
- Online. Start early: rank 100 and 30 Platinum Awards build up alongside everything else.
