The Collector role in Red Dead Online: who Madam Nazar is, how she moves between 12 camps every day and how to find her in the game, all 9 categories and 17 sets with full-set payouts, the shovel, binoculars and Metal Detector with prices, key ranks and tips to earn more.
Who Madam Nazar is and how she moves
Madam Nazar is a traveling fortune teller and dealer in curiosities. She sells the Collector’s Bag for 15 gold bars, which starts the Collector role, and she buys the sets you put together. Role prices and the basics are on the Red Dead Online roles page.
Her wagon stands at one of 12 fixed spots and moves to another every day. According to GTABoss, HoldToReset and Gamertweak, this happens at the Red Dead Online daily reset at 06:00 UTC — 1:00 AM ET in winter and 2:00 AM ET in summer, 6:00 AM in the UK in winter. Rockstar has not published this time officially. Guides say there is no fixed order: the camp is picked at random.
That is why we do not run a “where is Madam Nazar today” tracker — such lists go stale every morning. Below are the 12 possible spots per Red Dead Wiki and the way to find her camp in the game itself.
- Beecher’s Hope, north of Manzanita Post
- south of Twin Rocks, northwest of Armadillo
- south edge of Window Rock, north of Valentine
- north of Manteca Falls (Hennigan’s Stead)
- Black Balsam Rise, north of Annesburg
- southwest of Emerald Ranch
- Plainview, southeast of Benedict Point
- Bluewater Marsh
- Horseshoe Overlook
- Bolger Glade, southeast of Rhodes
- Hanging Dog Ranch, north of Strawberry
- O’Creagh’s Run
Gamertweak also lists 12 lines, but one spot appears twice; GTABoss describes the spread as “from Rio Bravo to Roanoke Ridge”.
How to find Madam Nazar in the game
First meeting. The role opens with an intro cutscene. According to Gamertweak, the first meeting is marked yellow on the map, in Cholla Springs northwest of Armadillo.
Collector’s Map. Open your satchel → Documents → Collector’s Map. The map marks three items, and if you have not found Madam Nazar that day, her camp replaces one of the markers. The first map is free; you buy the next ones from her. Gamertweak describes this mechanic, and other guides repeat it.
One map at a time. Opening a new map cancels the previous one. If you still need the old markers, set your own waypoints on those spots.
Listen. Music plays from her wagon near the camp — according to Shacknews, that helps once you are close.
According to rdr2.org, maps go on sale after you buy the shovel. Prices per Red Dead Wiki:
| Map | Price |
|---|---|
| American Wild Flowers | $12.50 |
| Antique Alcohol Bottles | $13 |
| Tarot Cards | $14 |
| Family Heirlooms | $14.50 |
| Arrowheads | $18 |
| Miscellaneous | $18.50 |
| Bird Eggs | $19 |
| Lost Jewelry | $26 |
| Coins | $27 |
| Fossils | $30 |
She also sells Collector tools, herbs, Crushed Valerian Root for $10 and some items from other roles (per Red Dead Wiki).
All Collector sets and what they pay
According to Red Dead Wiki, there are 9 permanent categories and 17 sets. rdr2.org (2023) lists 13: no bird eggs and none of the three fossil sets. The Coastal, Oceanic and Megafauna fossils were added in September 2020. On top of that, a weekly “dynamic” collection runs with a changing theme — for example, Herbalists in November 2026, according to HoldToReset.

| Fossils | Coastal | 7 | $217.00 | Metal Detector only |
| Fossils | Oceanic | 7 | $288.50 | Metal Detector only |
| Fossils | Megafauna | 6 | $321.00 | Metal Detector only |
Full-set prices are per Red Dead Wiki; rdr2.org confirms them for 13 sets, while eggs and fossils have a single source. Some bird eggs are knocked out of trees with the Varmint Rifle or a Small Game Arrow.
Per the Wiki, you can hold no more than 10 of each item. The Creek Plum and Agarita flowers and the Caribbean Rum and Absinthe bottles are also used for Moonshiner flavored moonshine — once used for moonshine, they are no longer available for the set.
Why you should sell complete sets only
A full set pays much more than the same items sold one by one, and it gives more Collector XP. rdr2.org flatly calls selling single items a waste of time. Do not sell duplicates — keep them for the next set.
You can sell a set to Madam Nazar or at a post office, so you do not have to track down her wagon first. By Red Dead Wiki’s math, the best value sets are coins, jewelry and fossils: about $31–53 per item. Flowers and Tarot cards pay around $17 per item.
The role pays most during Collector bonus weeks, when Rockstar offers 2X–3X on sets. According to worthplaying, the most recent one was in September 2025. Check the current event in the Red Dead Online weekly update.
Tools: shovel, binoculars and Metal Detector
Sources agree on the prices of all three tools but not on the rank that unlocks them. Plan on early ranks, roughly up to rank 5.
| Tool | Price | Rank by source | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pennington Field Shovel | $350 + 1 token | 1 (Wiki) / 5 (rdr2.org) / 1–5 (GTABase) | Digs up buried items |
| Refined Binoculars | $450 + 1–2 tokens | 5 (Wiki, rdr2.org) / 6–10 (GTABase) | Dig spots glow from a distance; optional |
| Metal Detector | $700 + 2–3 tokens | 5 (Wiki) / 6–10 (GTABase) | Coins and fossils need it; the faster it beeps, the closer the item |
Buy the shovel and the Metal Detector first: without them, coins, arrowheads, some jewelry and all fossils are out of reach. Rank 5 also unlocks the Águila Machete — a weapon, not a search tool; sources give different prices for it, so we leave it out.
Key Collector ranks
The role has 20 ranks. The most useful unlocks are the abilities that narrow down your search.
| Rank | Unlock |
|---|---|
| 3 | Divination — a sense that a collectible is nearby |
| 5 | Shovel, binoculars, machete; Metal Detector per the Wiki |
| 7 | Potential — Eagle Eye shows disturbed ground |
| 9 | Intuition — narrows the search area |
| 12 | Equine Assistance — pick up items without getting off your horse |
| 16 | Valuables Satchel Upgrade |
Ranks 7–16 per rdr2.org. Besides abilities, ranks 1–20 unlock the Collector Camp Theme, Collector Saddle Bag, Horse Lantern, Witford Compass, the Wentworth, Wallingford, Gladewater and Londonderry outfits and Criollo horse coats (per GTABase and Red Dead Wiki).
Collector tips
- Get the shovel and the Metal Detector as early as you can — the most valuable sets need them.
- Buy maps for expensive sets: coins, jewelry, fossils. Flowers and Tarot pay little for the time spent.
- Do not burn or blow up NPCs: per Red Dead Wiki, you cannot loot such a body, and bodies can carry bottles.
- Run Collector alongside Trader: according to Shacknews, Cripps fills the table while you hunt for collectibles.
- Watch for Collector bonus weeks and cash in your stored sets then.
