On November 3, Sony published a launch-prep guide for GTA 6 on the PlayStation Blog: PS5 pre-downloads open on November 10, ahead of the November 19 release. The post signs off by promising more information closer to launch, a line GTA BOOM reads as a possible hint at a dedicated PS5 Pro reveal.
PS5 pre-downloads unlock at local midnight on November 10
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Sony Interactive Entertainment's Tim Turi says pre-order holders can start downloading at local midnight on November 10. You'll need at least 212GB free, and Sony suggests expanding your console storage ahead of time.
Rockstar confirmed the same dates on Newswire and added details for the other versions.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| PS5 pre-load | November 10, 12 a.m. local time |
| Xbox Series X|S pre-load | November 10, 12 a.m. GMT (global) |

| Release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | November 19 |
One closing line has sparked PS5 Pro speculation
The PlayStation Blog post ends with: "We'll have more information on Grand Theft Auto VI as we get closer to November 19." It doesn't mention the PS5 Pro at all.
GTA BOOM's Ray Ampoloquio argues Sony may be saving its PS5 Pro pitch for launch. The game carries a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label on the PlayStation Store, yet neither Rockstar nor Sony has shared resolution, frame rate or graphics mode details. Ampoloquio himself concedes the line could simply be a generic sign-off with no promise behind it.
Buying a PS5 Pro for GTA 6 is still a blind bet
All that's official is that the game supports PS5 Pro. How it uses the hardware remains unknown. If you're torn between a standard PS5 and the Pro, it makes sense to wait for Sony's promised update or the first technical breakdowns after November 19. Our GTA 6 platforms page covers what's confirmed so far, and storage needs are on the system requirements page.
