Rockstar announced on Newswire that digital pre-loading for GTA 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S opens on Tuesday, November 10. That gives pre-order owners nine days to get the game installed before it launches on November 19. The download will take up to 212 GB depending on your console.
PS5 and Xbox players get access at different times
On PlayStation 5, pre-loading begins at midnight local time on November 10, rolling out region by region. On Xbox Series X|S it starts globally at the same moment: 12 a.m. GMT on November 10.
Physical buyers will wait a little longer. According to Rockstar, code-in-box versions for both consoles should be available from retailers starting November 12. Step-by-step pre-load instructions are on the Rockstar Support site.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| PS5 pre-load | November 10, midnight local time |
| Xbox Series X|S pre-load | November 10, 12 a.m. GMT |
| Code-in-box at retail | From November 12 |
| GTA 6 launch | November 19 |
You should clear more than 200 GB before the date
Rockstar explicitly tells players to make room in advance, since the pre-load file will require up to 212 GB. That is a big chunk of a stock PS5 or Xbox Series S drive, so it is worth tidying up storage before November 10 rather than on launch night.
At launch, GTA 6 is a current-gen console exclusive. We track what is known about other systems on our GTA 6 platforms page, and all the key dates are in our GTA 6 release date guide.
Rockstar will release a Leonida map poster on launch day
On November 19, a free printable poster featuring the GTA 6 cover art and a map of Leonida will be added to the official site. Shortly after launch, a double-sided physical version will go on sale at the Rockstar Store for $0.99, or come as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase.
GamesRadar+ and IGN have covered the announcement as well. A paper map is a nice nod to the fold-out maps of older GTA boxes, but the 212 GB figure is the part that needs your attention right now.
