|---|---|
| Who takes them | Nobody, there is no dedicated stranger |

Dreamcatchers are woven charms hanging from the branches of individual trees. Most often it is a dead or lone tree on a hill or cliff. There are no dreamcatchers in West Elizabeth or New Austin, so you do not need the epilogue for this collection. The game’s other collections are on the RDR2 collectibles page.
How to collect dreamcatchers
There is no quest to start. You just need to find a dreamcatcher and inspect it with the interact button — your character sketches a dot in the journal. The game does not mark them on the map in advance, so use the table below.
According to PowerPyx, you can collect them any time from Chapter 2 and in any order; no dreamcatcher disappears for good.
Bit by bit the dots in the journal form a picture. When you find all 20, you get the outline of a bison, and its "eye" points to the Elysian Pool area in Roanoke Ridge. That is where you go for the reward.
Map: where all 20 dreamcatchers hang
The numbers on the map match the table below (route order). The dots are placed by in-game coordinates, so the distances between them are true to the game.

A handy dreamcatcher route
The twenty spots split easily into five short trips.
- Ambarino (#1–4). Two spots near Cattail Pond and Window Rock in Grizzlies West, two more near Cotorra Springs and The Loft cabin in Grizzlies East.
- Around Valentine (#5–10). Lucky’s Cabin, Caliban’s Seat, Citadel Rock, then south to Flatneck Station and the letters of the New Hanover and The Heartlands labels.
- Emerald Ranch and the Lemoyne border (#11–15). Guthrie Farm, Heartland Overflow, Aberdeen Pig Farm and Lonnie’s Shack in Bluewater Marsh.
- Annesburg (#16–19). The slopes between the Kamassa River, Deer Cottage and the town itself.
- Elysian Pool (#20). Take the last spot here: the reward cave is behind the waterfall nearby.
Reward: the Ancient Arrowhead behind the Elysian Pool waterfall
Once you have all 20 dreamcatchers, ride to Elysian Pool in Roanoke Ridge (New Hanover). There is a cave behind the waterfall — bring a lantern, it is dark inside. Deep in the cave, climb up the rocks: a bison is painted on the wall there, just like the one in your journal. The Ancient Arrowhead lies in the "eye" of the painted bison; you need to pick it up.
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ancient Arrowhead | A permanent perk: stamina drains half as fast when shooting a bow ("Stamina lasts twice as long when using the bow") |
An important detail: the Ancient Arrowhead is not a talisman. Neither Pearson nor the Fence crafts it: the effect works on its own and shows up as a perk in the player menu.
For hunting rare game, see the legendary animals and RDR2 legendary fish pages. For the bow and other weapons, see the RDR2 weapons section.
Tips for finding dreamcatchers
- Use Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye highlights a dreamcatcher in yellow.
- Look for the odd tree out. Dreamcatchers almost always hang on a dead or lone tree that stands out against the forest or field.
- Combine it with other collections. Near Elysian Pool, Annesburg and Flatneck Station you will also find dinosaur bones and rock carvings.
- Check your progress. Pause → Progress → Total Completion → Dreamcatchers shows how many you have found.
