How to spray all 100 tags in GTA San Andreas and what you get for it

Updated: 06.11.2026 Author: Alex Rayne
Sweet, Big Smoke, Ryder and CJ outside a house on Grove Street in GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition

All 100 GTA San Andreas gang tags by Los Santos district: where to get a spray can, how to make a tag count, whose tags you cover, the reward in the Johnson House kitchen and the Definitive Edition.

In short
  • GTA San Andreas has 100 rival gang tags, and all of them are in Los Santos.
  • You spray them on foot with the Spray Can: hold fire until the Grove Street Families tag appears on top.
  • A spray can sits on the roof behind CJ's house from the start of the game, and another one appears in his bedroom after the Tagging Up Turf mission.
  • Spray all 100 and a Tec-9, AK-47, Sawn-Off Shotgun and Molotov cocktails appear in the Johnson House kitchen, while Grove Street members get better weapons.
  • Tags count toward 100% and can never be missed for good.

The tags are not marked or numbered on the in-game map, so you will need the table below or the GTA San Andreas map.

Where to get a spray can

  • The roof behind Johnson House. Climb the wall between Sweet's and CJ's houses onto the garage, then onto the Pawn Shop roof. The can is there from the start of the game, with about 500 units of paint.
  • CJ's bedroom upstairs. After Tagging Up Turf, about 1,000 units; it respawns after you save or leave the house.
  • Other spots. According to GTA Wiki, spray cans also lie in Las Colinas (behind a house in the middle of the district) and at Sobell Rail Yards in Las Venturas.

All 100 tags take roughly 2,500–3,000 units of paint (25–30 per tag), so about three full cans from the bedroom.

How to make a tag count

Aim the spray can at a rival tag and hold fire. One tag takes roughly 25–30 units of paint: GTA Wiki says 29, PowerPyx says 25.

Sources differ slightly on when exactly a tag counts. According to GTA Wiki, the on-screen message and the sound are enough. Gamer Guides warns that the message can come too early, and then the tag goes into your stats but not into the percentage. So keep spraying until it is fully covered and the green Grove Street Families tag shows through.

According to GTA Wiki, spraying can get you a wanted level.

Whose tags you cover

The tags belong to seven gangs. Counts are from GTA Wiki; gta-sanandreas.com credits one tag to the Aztecas instead of the Vagos (24 and 12).

Map: where all 100 tags are

The numbers on the maps match the tables below (GTA Wiki numbering). The dots are placed by in-game coordinates, so the distances between them are true to the game. To keep the numbers readable, Los Santos is split into two maps: the west with downtown, and the east.

What you get for all 100 tags

  • Weapons at home. A Tec-9, AK-47, Sawn-Off Shotgun and Molotov cocktails appear in the Johnson House kitchen. They reappear after you leave the house, so it is free ammo.
  • Better weapons for the gang. Grove Street members that CJ recruits carry a knife, Desert Eagle and SMG instead of the 9mm and Tec-9.

There is no Combat Shotgun in the reward: every source names the sawn-off. For the rest of the arsenal, see the GTA San Andreas weapons page.

Tags in the original, on mobile and in the Definitive Edition

There are no documented changes to tags between versions: guides for the 2021 Definitive Edition list the same 100 spots and the same reward, and there is no data on changes in the 2013 mobile version either.

The remaster has no separate achievement for tags; they count toward the overall percentage for the 100% Remastered achievement (see GTA San Andreas achievements).

Tips

  1. Go district by district. The table runs block by block: East Beach (No. 8–14), Jefferson (No. 59–66), El Corona (No. 42–46) — each can be cleared in one trip.
  2. Be ready to climb. According to PowerPyx, a few tags can only be reached over a fence or from a car roof, and a fat CJ cannot climb a high wall.

An overview of all four sets is in the collectibles section, and everything else you need for full completion is on the GTA San Andreas 100% page.

GTA San Andreas tags FAQ

How many tags are in GTA San Andreas?

100. All of them are in Los Santos; there are no tags in San Fierro or Las Venturas.

Where do I get a spray can for tags in GTA San Andreas?

On the Pawn Shop roof behind CJ's house, from the start of the game. After the Tagging Up Turf mission, there is also one in CJ's bedroom upstairs.

What do you get for all the tags in GTA San Andreas?

A Tec-9, AK-47, Sawn-Off Shotgun and Molotov cocktails appear in the Johnson House kitchen, and Grove Street members get a knife, Desert Eagle and SMG.

Why didn't my tag count?

Most often it was not fully sprayed. The message sometimes appears too early, so hold fire until the Grove Street Families tag shows through and check Tags Sprayed in your stats.

Are tags needed for 100% in GTA San Andreas?

Yes, all 100. You cannot miss them for good: the tags stay in the world until the end of the game.
