GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition remasters GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. What it costs on Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox, Nintendo eShop and mobile, what GTA+ gives you, why Netflix is no longer an option and whether patches fixed the game.

Коротко
  • GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition remasters GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas in Unreal Engine; it came out on November 11, 2021.
  • The regular price is $59.99 on Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox and Nintendo eShop.
  • On PC and console the games aren't sold separately, only as a bundle.
  • On mobile, San Andreas – Definitive costs $19.99; GTA III and Vice City are free for 30 minutes, then an in-game purchase.
  • The Trilogy is in the GTA+ library ($7.99 a month); the games have been removed from Netflix Games.
  • The game was heavily patched after launch: over 100 fixes in February 2022 and a big update in November 2024.

What's in GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition

The bundle includes three remasters: GTA III (2001, Liberty City), GTA Vice City (2002, Vice City in 1986) and GTA San Andreas (2004, the state of San Andreas). The stories, missions and cheats come from the originals; what's new is Unreal Engine 4 graphics in place of RenderWare, lighting and models. The remaster was developed by Grove Street Games (formerly War Drum Studios) and published by Rockstar Games.

More on each game: GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City; codes: GTA 3 cheats, Vice City and San Andreas.

These are regular prices as of October 31, 2026. Discounts: on the US Nintendo eShop the Trilogy costs $19.79 until November 7, 2026; Steam and PlayStation Store had no discount on the bundle that day. Stores don't show the full price of GTA III and Vice City on mobile, because the listings are marked as free (with a trial period). We haven't checked UK or EU prices; check your local store.

On Steam, the GTA III – DE, Vice City – DE and San Andreas – DE pages exist, but each leads to buying the whole bundle: the games aren't sold separately. Mobile is the only place to buy a single remaster.

GTA+ and Netflix: playing without buying

GTA+ is Rockstar's subscription at $7.99 a month, with no annual plan. It works on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (on PC only together with GTA V Enhanced); as of October 31, 2026, the GTA+ game library includes the Trilogy, GTA III DE and Vice City DE. The Trilogy page on PlayStation Store says exactly that for subscribers: Included. Rockstar changes the library lineup, so check the current list before subscribing.

Netflix is no longer an option. The trilogy arrived on Netflix Games on December 14, 2023, but GTA III and Vice City were removed after December 13, 2024, and San Andreas on December 12, 2025. Saves from the Netflix versions don't carry over to the paid ones.

A search for "GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition free download" has no legal answer apart from GTA+ and the 30-minute mobile trials. Keys on third-party sites at a fraction of the price risk being revoked.

Ahead of the remaster's launch, on October 13, 2021, the original GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas were pulled from digital stores. After criticism, Rockstar gave the PC originals back to Definitive Edition owners (from December 3, 2021); the bonus applied to purchases made before June 30, 2022.

Did patches fix GTA Trilogy?

The November 2021 launch was a disaster: Rockstar's launcher was down for about 28 hours, the PC version was unavailable for roughly three days, critics' scores were low, and players flooded the game with negative reviews. Rockstar publicly apologized about a week after release.

Then came the updates:

  • November 20, 2021: the first big patch;
  • November 30, 2021: a ground fog option was added for San Andreas;
  • February 2022: over 100 fixes;
  • November 2024: a classic lighting option like the originals, mobile fixes, shooting while running in GTA III and Vice City; the Grove Street Games logo was removed from the splash screen.

The honest answer to "did they fix it": the worst launch bugs are gone, and the 2024 update brought back some of the originals' atmosphere. But it's still the same remaster, and if the original look matters to you, the only legal way to get it now is the 2011–2013 mobile ports (GTA III and Vice City $4.99, San Andreas $6.99).

Should you buy it?

If you've never played the classic three and you have a PS5, Xbox Series or PC, the Trilogy is the only legal way to play all three games on a current platform. The cheapest route on console is a month of GTA+, if you can finish in time. On mobile, buying the games individually is better value. And there's no point waiting for the remasters to be sold separately on Steam: Rockstar only sells them there as a bundle.
